anecdote --

i drove to canada (ottowa?) just to see the premiere of char davies 
ephemere. i talked to her about the work and stayed till last just to 
get a chance to strap on the gear

while the navigation mechanism was beautiful (navigating by breathing 
was a lovely interface) the one thing that almost ruined it was the 
headset... the image was made up of these big lcd 'pixels' i could 
not believe how lo-res it was. i mean they go through all this 
trouble to make a conceptually and technically excellent project and 
the immersive exprience was so much worse visually than the real-time 
video stream playing in the gallery.

i found that very strange indeed.
